We use a “perfect binding” on our books which, in publishing lingo, indicates the type of binding used for trade paperbacks you would find in a bookstore. The standard size of these paperbacks is 5 x 8 inches, but other trim sizes are available. Our standard interior paper stock is a white, 50#, recycled paper, and our standard cover stock is a thicker, fibrous matte paper. All our covers are printed in full color. Additional color within the book’s interior is also an option, but comes at an additional cost. Likewise, you can choose a heavier paper stock or a glossy finish cover at an additional cost.
Below is a pricing guide per book for black & white interior printing in books of various trim sizes and lengths on 50# white text stock perfect bound with a full color 100# cover. There is a modest, one time set-up fee for book orders of fewer than 1000. The minimum order of books with a black-and-white interior is ten.

* These prices are calculated for a pre-formatted book. This means you send us a PDF file of your book with all corrections made. We then print and bind the book exactly as is. If you would like us to format the book for you, prices begin at $100. COLOR PRINTING and CASEBOUND BOOKS
Contact us with basic information about your book (planned size, number of pages, typical page content) for a custom quote. Please keep in mind that four-color printing is typically triple the cost of black-and-white printing. If color images are spread throughout the book, the entire book (including text) may need to be printed in color. The most difficult obstacle with color printing is color matching. All color printers are different, as are all screens (and even what people see!) We cannot exactly match your color printouts, nor can we guarantee that colors will match between print runs, but we strive to come as close as possible.
Casebound (hardcover) books are an option and are typically $15 more per book than the paperback equivalent.
The minimum order for color and casebound books is twenty-five.
PLEASE NOTE: We believe wholly in freedom of speech, and will work with almost any project — but The Troy Book Makers will not work with any book or author that encourages violence or endangers our staff. All sales are final. We do not accept returns or make refunds. All of our books are custom made for your order, partially by hand. In order to prevent potential problems, please read your proofs very carefully before finalizing your order.
