The Accidental (Kindle) Millionaire

This post from Kiri Blakeley at Forbes ((Who Wants to be a (Kindle) Millionaire?)) offers a brief but accurate look at some of the changes in publishing, changes that encourage today’s writers to consider the power of Kindle.

The industry that used to support writers has changed. The industry that used to compensate them has changed. And, without the complex system of preorders/ returns that physical books travel through (often making it difficult for regular people to know what really “sells”), electronic purchases are easy to track, tabulate, and are often shared openly on blogs.

Still, we continue to wonder, “What makes a book sell?”

The best answer remains, “When someone buys it, of course.”
