If you’ve self-published this year, congratulations! You’re in great company!
According to this piece in MediaShift, word is out that self-publishing has lost its stigma. (But we knew that already, didn’t we?) According to Carla King, a publishing and social media strategist, technology seems to be the self-published author’s biggest friend. While I think she’s stretching a bit in her assessment of the uselessness of bookstores and printed books, she’s got some interesting insight.
I’d be curious to know if successful self-published authors rely more on their circle of friends, family, and contacts, or if social media provides the boost. Possibly a combination of the two..?
